Crusader Kings II Game Playing Platform and Version:
Microsoft Windows saw its release on February 14, 2012. And was released for OS X and Linux on 24th May 2012 and 14th Jan 2013 respectively. It is the Paradox’s second most successful game release till date after Cities: Skylines with above 1 million copies sold worldwide.
The game is a dynasty simulation where a player is to control a Medieval dynasty from 1066 A.D. to 1453 A.D. A player achieves triumph for his/her dynasty by intelligently using war strategies, assassinations and marriages among many other things to achieve successful reign of his or her dynasty.
Historical Figures and Characters In CK2:
The game contains a number of historical figures such as William the Conqueror, Constantin X Doukas, Charlemagne, Harun Al-Rashid, Genghis Khan, Alexios Komnenos, Harold Godwinson, Alfred the Great, Robert Guiscard, Baldwin of Jerusalem, Harald Hardrada, Saladin and El Cid.
The Player gets to choose some significant people as Minor Dukes/Counts or Create a new character using “Ruler designing DLC”.
Crusader Kings II Game Play and Walk Through Guide:
The game simulation is an open-ended type, so defining success depends on the player’s point of view of success.
The only objective is to get as many piety and prestige points and as possible in order to overthrow the various historical European dynasties in a fictional ranking. (Which has Capetian, Rurikovich and Habsburg dynasties as the top 3 dynasties in these fictional rankings).
The game ends when a player’s character dies without any heir to the dynasty to succeed after him/her, when all titles are stripped from the members of his/her dynasty, or when the in-game year changes to 1453 A.D.
The in-game children will inherit many traits, religion, culture and skills from their parents or guardians. This allows planning for strategizing marriages so that a player will not only form beneficial alliances but also select marriage partners with strong traits to maximise the quality of offspring and thus the strengthening of the dynasty.
It may also happen that marriages will not result in new alliances, for making strategic alliances there may be a marriage with a person with undesirable traits.
Unplayable Character In CK2:
A player cannot become some unplayable character without the help of Mods (Mods are the additional packages installed to modify the Original Game).
The Unplayable characters consist of Theocracies, Holy Orders or Mercenaries like Templar Knights and The Catalan Company, Minor republics like Novgorod and Binaries most any landed noble to play, there are some which are unplayable without the use of mods.
Playable Characters In CK2:
Whereas Muslims, Jews, Indians, Pagans, and Merchant Republics (notably Venice) are playable with the Sword of Islam, Sons of Abraham, The Old Gods, “Rajas of India” and The Republic DLC respectively.
A Feast for the Game of Thrones Fans!
Various Mods are available to download but the Game of Thrones mod is the Blockbuster. The developers of the Crusader Kings 2 released “Game of Thrones” MOD(Mod based on George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” ) as a mod for full conversion of Crusader Kings II into the world-renowned fantasy series.
Set in the world of Westeros, you can portray any lord from Earth or The Seven Kingdoms in the Westeros. The mod is named after the Game of Thrones, the first book in the series. The mod contains the characters who are ambitious and want to rule the Seven Kingdoms.
The start date is the 300 years after Aegon’s Conquest of the seven kingdoms.
How Is This Mod Different From Crusader Kings II?
In CK2, the player battle against the other rulers to get control over the various realms and kingdoms. In GOT, the player fights for the Iron Throne forged by Aegon Targaryen’s Dragons. Events of CK2 have been adapted into this mod.
New Features In Crusader Kings II:
- Duel between Lords on the Battleground.
- Adapted new method of interaction between characters.
- Pets that aid characters in battle.
- Much more things to bring the fantasy land of Westeros to life for the gamers.
While Crusader Kings II and GOT contain Role-Playing (RP) elements, this mod does not follow the narrative of the books. Saying that just imagine the possibilities that can occur in this adapted version of GOT.
Things Possible Because Of This Mod.
- Robb capturing Kings Landing.
- Renly and Stannis both defeat Joffrey.
- Rhaegar defeating Robert Baratheon at the Battle of Trident
